Once, in a time of much unrest and war between countries, the Order of the Dagger was formed by twelve women from different lands who would act as ambassadors of peace between the nations. The Order has faded into history, but as a new war approaches, one woman schemes to bring it back.

Charlie of Windsong has always been an unusual girl, raised by her father to ride horse and play with swords. After his death, her life settles into quiet monotony. When she receives a mysterious invitation, her curiosity leads her away from her safe, comfortable life on an adventure she never expected. Her country is in danger, and Charlie is the key to saving it.
